American Supremacy, Part II
This is sort of a follow-up to the
first installment of American
Supremacy over the summer. I think "Bushisms" are really overdone now, and I keep hearing the same Bush quotes
over and over. It gets old. However, there seems to be another whole layer of Bushisms out there that is
just too absurd and bizarre to ever catch on. This isn't partisanship, it's objectively funny. At least, that's
my guess as to why I hadn't heard many of these before. I've cited the quotes as best I could...
"And so, in my state of the... my State of the Union... or state -- my speech to the nation, whatever you want to call it, speech to the nation -- I asked Americans to give 4,000 years -- 4,000 hours over the next -- the rest of your life -- of service to America."

"There's a lot of people in the Middle East who are desirous to get into the Mitchell process, but first things first. These terrorist acts and the responses have got to end in order for us to get the framework -- the groundwork, not framework -- the groundwork to discuss a framework, to lay the -- all right."
-George W Bush
Meridian, TX, 8/13/2001
"That's a chapter, the last chapter of the 20th... 20th, the 21st century that most of us would rather forget. The last chapter of the 20th century. This is the first chapter of the 21st century."
-George W Bush
Arlington Heights, IL, 10/24/2000
"One of the interesting initiatives we've taken in Washington, DC is we've got these vampire-busting devices. A vampire is a... a cell deal you can plug in the wall to charge your cell phone."
-George W Bush
Denver, CO, 8/14/2001
"Natural gas is hemispheric. I like to call it hemispheric in nature because it is a product that we can find in our neighborhoods."
-George W Bush
"The march to war hurt the economy. Laura reminded me a while ago that... remember what was on the TV screens -- she calls me George W... George W. I call her First Lady. No, anyway, she said... we said, 'March to war on our TV screen.'"
-George W Bush
Bay Shore, NY
"September the 4th, 2001 I stood in the ruins of the Twin Towers. It's a day I will never forget."
